POLICY

The policies of the English Language Center are summarized below.

Academic Policy: Students at the English Language Center are expected to pass all of their classes with a minimum grade average of 70% . The English Language Center reserves the right to expel students for failure to comply with our Academic Policy as described in our Student Handbook. Attendance Policy: Students at the English Language Center are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of their classes. The English Language Center reserves the right to expel students for failure to comply with our Attendance Policy as described in our Student Handbook. Homestay Policy: Students who live with a homestay family while attending classes at the English Language Center are expected to be respectful and follow the house rules of the homestay family. For more information on our Homestay Policy, please contact the English Language Center.

Privacy Policy: The English Language Center does not sell information gathered about students or visitors to third party companies. All information that the English Language Center gathers about a student or visitor will be kept private and used only for business conducted by the English Language Center.  

 

CANCELLATION/ REFUND POLICY

  • Refunds made to ELC students and/or prospective students will be made within 45 days of determination or cancellation. For the purposes of this policy, the date of determination is the date the student gives written notice of withdrawal to the institution or the date the institution terminates the student for a reason that does not involve violation of the institution’s written disciplinary and/or attendance policy.
  • All refunds shall be given to the party who paid the institution.
  • Prorated refunds will be calculated on a weekly basis. When determining the number of weeks, the institution will consider a partial week the same as a whole week if the student was present at least one day during the week.

 

REFUNDS TO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS:

A prospective student’s tuition will be refunded in full under the following circumstances:

  • His or her application is not accepted by ELC.
  • He or she is denied a visa to enter the United States.
  • He or she declines enrollment prior to the first day of the term.
  • A class or program is cancelled prior to the first day of the term.

 

WITHDRAWAL AFTER START OF CLASSES:

POLICY OR LAW VIOLATION:

No refunds will be given to students who are terminated due to violation of ELC’s written disciplinary or attendance policies or local, state or federal law.

 

FIRST TERM REFUNDS:

  1. Any student who withdraws from school at any time during the first four weeks of the eight-week term will not receive a refund.
  1. Any student who withdraws after the mid-point of the eight-week term will not receive a refund.

 

SUBSEQUENT TERMS/ SESSIONS:

 

WITHDRAWAL BEFORE MIDPOINT OF TERM:

If a student withdraws before the mid-point of the term, ELC will retain a

Prorated amount of tuition up to the midpoint of the term and will refund

the remainder.

 

WITHDRAWAL AFTER MIDPOINT OF TERM:

If a student withdraws after the midpoint of a term, ELC will be entitled to retain the tuition for the entire term.

 

NON-REFUNDABLE CHARGES:

Non-refundable charges are explicitly listed on the ELC Application and include the following: Application Fee, Courier Charge and Airport Pick-Up Fee.

 

SCHOLARSHIP REFUNDS:

  • When the sponsor of a scholarship is responsible for tuition payment, any refund due will be paid directly to the sponsor.
  • When a student receives a financial guarantee from a sponsor that reimburses tuition already paid by the student, a refund for the tuition previously paid by the student and covered under the financial guarantee, will be paid to the student immediately upon ELC’s receipt of payment by the sponsoring agency.
