International students who are non-native speakers of English are typically required to achieve a satisfactory score on the TOEFL or IELTS test as a prerequisite for college admission in the United States. The English Language Center’s instructional programming and elective classes are designed to prepare students for TOEFL and IELTS testing, as well as for success in American colleges and universities. Our Twelve-Weeks Certificate program allows qualifying students whose TOEFL or IELTS scores fall below general college entrance requirements to attend participating colleges and universities within the state of Oklahoma, in accordance with OSRHE specifications. Students who undertake this certificate program as a path to college admission must successfully complete twelve additional weeks of instruction. At least 2/3 of this supplementary twelve weeks of instruction must be completed in advanced-level intensive English classes. Upon completion of the ELC’s Twelve-Weeks Certificate program, eligible students may use their present TOEFL or IELTS score and the ELC’s Twelve-Weeks Certificate of Completion to meet the admission requirements of participating Oklahoma state colleges and universities.
